Travel to Manhattan Beach if you like:
⛰️ Cliff 🏖️ Ocean 🏖️ Surfing 🏖️ BeachManhattan Beach is a quiet beach with an elegant atmosphere. It is frequented by the upper middle class of Los Angeles, looking for sun and tranquility. It is still far from the majority of the tourist sites in LA. Conveniently located near the Los Angeles airport in the South Bay area, Manhattan Beach has a lot going for it. Sand and surf are the main activities here, and at times you'll feel like you're in an episode of Baywatch, only modernized. The extremely soft sand is lined with volleyball nets and hosts the Manhattan Beach Open, a professional summer beach volleyball tournament held annually.
Manhattan Beach has a pleasant seaside promenade, ideal for enjoying the ocean breeze when you don't want to lie on the sand. At sunset, it's the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail as the colors change. The Manhattan Pier is quite famous for its turquoise blue barriers that you have certainly seen in pictures. Inside, you'll find observation pools and can even pet starfish and other invertebrate species. A little anecdote: Roundhouse is the place where the character played by Keanu Reeves in Point Break buys his surfboard. An aquarium is supposed to be at the end of this one and you will have a very nice view on the city behind you and you will even be able to see the planes passing by a few miles away. And of course we couldn't talk about Manhattan Beach without talking about its beach! Warm sand, beautiful blue water.
Along the beach you will find a beautiful paved path, called The Strand, very popular with cyclists, runners and walkers who enjoy the idyllic setting. Hermosa Beach is located a few miles south and offers a lovely scenic drive. Inland, Downtown Manhattan Beach is the bustling center of the city, teeming with luxury boutiques, retailers, hotels, bars and many popular and upscale restaurants.
